How does A.R.T work?

Have you noticed how after a thorough cleaning of your house on the weekend, by the time the next weekend has rolled around your place dirty again even though you’ve been tidying up after yourself? Think of A.R.T as the big spring cleaning.

A.R.T works on the premise that exercise, bad movement and muscle damage accumulates. What this means is that every time our body moves vigorously or stays in the one position for to long—small amounts of muscle damage and scar tissue will begin to build up. This insidious scar tissue accumulation reduces our flexibility, strength, ability to move safely and then eventually leads to injuries.

What conditions can A.R.T help?

Headaches, back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all follow a common theme—they all come from overused muscles.

Is A.R.T just for athletes and people who train?

Not at all. Muscle stiffness and poor tissue quality can accumulate just as much, if not more in people who are stuck at a desk or in their cars for extended periods. If you’re in pain and it’s muscular related—A.R.T can help.

Aren’t all massage therapists trained in A.R.T?

No. Having completed a diploma of remedial massage myself, I can safely say the training obtained in A.R.T certifications are exponentially more comprehensive and have more relevance to injuries and movement corrections.
